The bustling cosmopolitan capital of New Caledonia offers the best of so many different worlds making it the ideal conference or incentive destination.Noumea is set by the lagoon with beautiful bays extending around the city, with attractive cultural and culinary offerings for visitors, and a thriving nightlife offering a wide variety of nightclubs and open air bars. The West Coast of the mainland is characterised by both large spaces favouring cattle farming and a lagoon of stunning beauty, the West Coast is also host to a rich cultural heritage. The central mountain range of the mainland forms a natural boundary that divides the east and west. Exposed to strong winds and is therefore more humid, the eastern coast offers magnificent scenery with sumptuous flora. With a population of largely Melanesian origin, the east has also retained a particularly charming flavour of authenticity. A great pre or post touring option for more intrepid travellers.
The Great South is a day or half day trip from Noumea and is home to the grand Blue River Provincial Park offering 4WD tours, waterfalls, kayaking, mountain biking and trekking options. On the south western coast, the N’Dua Reserve offers spectacular views over the Bay of Prony where humpback whales come to mate in the winter months.
Bathed in crystalline waters and ringed by signature tall pines – an endemic tree species – l’Île des Pins is the jewel of New Caledonia. - The four raised coral islands, Mare, Tiga, Lifou and Ouvea, lie about 100 km to the east of the mainland.
- Ouvea’s lagoon, protected by a barrier reef and a chain of islets, consists of nearly 25 km of breathtaking sand beaches along a turquoise sea.
- Lifou, the largest, is a raised atoll with soaring cliffs and fine sand beaches marking the contours of the island.
- Mare is an island of real contrasts, with high cliffs, basalt rocks, dark forests, caves and powdery white sand beaches lining the clear waters of the lagoon. The Loyalty Islands offer a relaxing pre and post touring option.
